If you caught my post last week on organizing hacks for big families sharing a small bathroom, then you probably get the gist that we've outgrown our home. Some big changes are in the works for us though over the next few months! Along with welcoming our 4th child this summer, we'll be moving shortly thereafter. Like I said, things are set to change pretty rapidly around here.My wish list for our new home wasn't too extravagant. It really only included 3 must-haves:
- 2 full baths
- 4 bedrooms
- An eat-in kitchen that could comfortably fit our family of 6 - with plenty of storage and counter space.
When I have a few extra minutes here and there, I often find myself browsing online to find some country chic kitchen design inspiration. Honestly, the more I browse, the more excited I get!
While I definitely haven't pinned down all of the details, these are some of the design elements that have made it onto my wish list so far:
- Kitchen sinks: I didn't think that this would be a major design element however, after looking around a bit, I now have my heart set on a Farm House sink. I found some beautiful options over at PlumbTile
- Beadboard cabinetry: There's something about this look that screams country chic. I'm leaning towards a cream/country white color scheme for all of the kitchen cabinetry.
- Beadboard appliance facing: I am in love with the idea of facing appliances so that the cabinetry and appliances blend for a more cohesive look.
- Simple tile backsplash: While white subway tiles aren't necessarily country chic, I think they would add a clean/bright look and feel. I would also like to break up the white a bit with a tin tile backsplash, behind the stove.
- Hardware: Believe it or not little details, such as cabinet hardware, can make a BIG difference in the look and feel of a kitchen. I didn't really consider how much of a difference it can make until I started making my way through the huge selection at PlumbTile. You can literally choose to customize everything from Knobs & Pulls to cabinet hinges. SO MANY CHOICES! I think I'm leaning towards a more classic look in this department.
- Large kitchen island: I have been dreaming about a large kitchen island for a few years now. This will create some added work space so that the kids can be more involved in meal prep and baking - which is always fun!
